On Tuesday, November 14, 2023, the Board of Education approved the appointment of Eric Mace, Ed.D. as the principal of Manorhaven Elementary School. Eric holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and Adolescent Education from St. Joseph's University, a Master of Arts in Educational Technology from Hofstra University, an Advanced Certificate in School Administration from The College of Saint Rose, and a Doctoral Degree in Educational Leadership from Liberty University.
After enlisting in the United States Marine Corps, Eric earned distinctions such as the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and the Presidential Service Badge for his White House Military Office service. Transitioning to education, he began his career as a social studies teacher in New York City, earning recognition as a Model Teacher in the New York City Department of Education. Joining the Port Washington school district in 2019, Eric served as the assistant principal of Carrie Palmer Weber Middle School before being appointed as the interim principal of Manorhaven Elementary School this past summer.
“Dr. Mace has demonstrated his commitment to creating nurturing and engaging learning environments throughout his career, serving in various capacities such as teacher, coach, chairperson, and most recently, as the assistant principal of Weber Middle School,” expressed Dr. Michael Hynes, Superintendent of Schools.
"I am thrilled,” noted Dr. Mace, “to continue serving the families of Port Washington in my new role as the Principal at Manorhaven Elementary School. Stepping into the role of Principal, I am eager to celebrate the tremendous accomplishments of our students and staff already taking place. However, what excites me the most are the areas where we can continue to grow. I am confident we can chart a new course for Manorhaven Elementary School, leading to even greater student success.”
